Miami, December 3, 2021 – My Yacht® Group (MYG) returned to Miami to host another in its exclusive “Night Before” dinner series, plus its 11th charity superyacht reception, with an incredible selection of returning and new partners aboard, during the 20th iteration of Art Basel Miami Beach.
Celebrating over a decade as title sponsor of the Miami event, Vontobel Swiss Wealth Advisors AG, fresh from their recent acquisition of UBS Swiss Financial Advisors, that makes Bank Vontobel the largest Swiss-domiciled wealth manager for US clients seeking an account in Switzerland for diversification purposes, welcomed key clients and art world guests.
Making their My Yacht debut, Bang & Olufsen created a sensory experience in the B&O Lounge. Guests were treated to the cutting edge Beolab 90 loudspeakers and the stunning 83” Beovision Harmony TV, as well as examples of the company’s bespoke design capabilities including a gold-plated limited edition music system that bridges the gap between iconic design from 1972 and today’s cutting-edge digital technology.
MYG continued its series of curated “Night Before” dinners where B&O showcased products to a hand-selected audience, each of whom were gifted $400 Beoplay EX earbuds. 5-time US Hall of Fame astronaut Commander Michael Lopez-Alegría, Chief Astronaut of Axiom Space, shared his experience of piloting Ax-1, shepherding 3 private astronauts on the first all-private mission to the ISS. With a total 16 days on Low Earth Orbit, each conducted an extensive array of innovative research on behalf of major medical organizations back on earth including Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation.
ZERO-G, the only commercial opportunity on Earth for everyday people to experience true “weightlessness” without going to space, returned as partner with CEO Matt Gohd enlightening guests. Aboard its specially modified Boeing 727, G-FORCE ONE®, weightlessness is achieved by doing aerobatic maneuvers known as parabolas, and passengers can float, flip and soar just like Astronauts do in space. The plane moves around the country offering weightless experiences in CA, FL, NY, TX, and more.
The yacht reception welcomed guests aboard 185ft research vessel Gene Chaser, the support yacht for ‘mother ship’ M/Y Gene Machine. It features a working research laboratory for many of the 4Catalyzer companies, the biotech startup accelerator founded by Dr. Jonathan Rothberg. Butterfly Network (NYSE: BFLY), Quantum-Si (NASDAQ: QSI), Hyperfine and Liminal Sciences (NASDAQ: HYPR), Detect, Al Therapeutics, Tesseract, and Protein Evolution are all companies transforming 21st century medicine and improving our planet by solving today’s most challenging problems across life. Guests were invited to “Touch The Future” with the many interactive machines aboard including a brain MRI, retinal scanner, and more.
The evening continued to raise awareness for MYG’s chosen charity partner, YachtAid Global (YAG) and its incredible relief efforts. YAG provides humanitarian aid, conservation, and disaster response leadership, with work encompassing global programs, logistics management and consultation for superyachts which want to contribute to the world around them.
The yacht’s large rear deck and helipad was the perfect setting for the main party that featured the world’s number one rosé, Whispering Angel, plus custom cocktails from Rebecca Creek Distillery, Ume Plum Liqueur, plus hydration courtesy of ServedUp water.
A DJ, live saxophone, and aerialist hoisted on the yacht’s crane, plus displays from Art4Change and Bel Air Fine Art, including a 6-foot Richard Orlinski gorilla, rounded out the experience for a distinguished list of guests that included the Rothberg family, HM British Consul General in Miami, prolific art collectors, and international and local (U)HNW.
